Cumulus Research Platform Concept

Overview

The iTunes store had remained largely the same since its launch. The iOS version of the store had not changed at least since the introduction of iPhone in 2007. The iOS design structure was largely derived from the desktop version and was not aimed at a robust experience but primarily trying to leverage the featuring aspect of the store on limiting the amount of things you could actually do to the most top level options afforded to you by the desktop experience.

Goals & Challenges

Information Density: The old store had scaled with little regard for how much the users was seeing. Information hierarchy: The old store managed to combine media types and information that needed organization. Overall visual appeal: The combination of poor density and poor hierarchy made for large amounts of visual noise.
